INALCO 2023 : The Aluminium Conference not to be missed

7 September 2023

Montréal, September 7th, 2023 – From October 11th to 13th, at the Centre des congrès de Québec, will be held the 15th International Conference on Aluminium – INALCO 2023. More than 200 participants from 14 countries have already confirmed their attendance to learn about the recent results of applied research on aluminium in Québec and around the world.

Containing different applications in transportation and civil structures, INALCO will highlight green aluminium solutions. Let’s recall that the very first edition of this prestigious conference dates back to 1979 and the last two editions were held in Tokyo, Japan in 2019 and Naples, Italy in 2016.

Jointly organized by the Aluminium Research Centre – REGAL and AluQuébec, Québec’s Aluminium Cluster, INALCO will gather academics, researchers, industrials as well as key actors of the aluminium industry. INALCO also relies on the support of the international scientific committee, made up of about 40 researchers and engineers from 15 different countries.

INALCO will offer a direct access to all the expertise and innovations with aluminium, thanks to the technical sessions dedicated to design and metal forming, welding and joining, alloys, surface treatment and environmental impact. Furthermore, to emphasize the crucial facets of green aluminium innovation in the industry, INALCO will welcome a dozen distinguished guests who will offer plenary conferences on a variety of subjects.

  • Vincent Christ, ELYSIS (Canada) ǀ ELYSIS a Key Player in the Aluminum Decarbonization
  • Tao Wang, Rio Tinto (USA) ǀ The Future of Responsible Aluminium: Connecting the entire value chain
  • Philippe Gosselin et Félix Lapointe, Ferreol (Canada) ǀ New aluminium-scandium alloy for high-performance alpine skis
  • Geir Ringen, NTNU et Trond Furu, Hydro (Norway) ǀ Aluminium long span suspension bridges - ambitions, opportunities and challenges
  • Benoit Cusson, WSP (Canada) ǀ 10 Modern Applications and Construction Details for Aluminium Bridges
  • Laurent Chappuis, Light Metal Consultants, LLC (USA) ǀ Aluminum Auto Body Sheet in North America after the 2015 Ford F-150
  • Honorable Rosa Galvez, senator (Canada) ǀ Aluminium in a circular economy

Faithful to the conference’s tradition, INALCO 2023 will host a gala dinner which will feature a performance mixing music and acrobatics, led by Patrice Painchaud, renowned internationally for his shows that have amazed thousands of conventioneers.

For its 15th edition, INALCO 2023 is closely related to the 20th REGAL Student Day; an annual event where doctoral and master’s students showcase the results of their research linked to aluminium, by the means of scientific posters. “It is a unique platform to allow aspiring researchers to directly dialogue with industrials and the scientific community. The pairing of REGAL’s Student Day and INALCO 2023 expands this scientific community to an international scale”, rejoices the REGAL’s director, Houshang Alamdari.

“INALCO is a privileged networking environment to stimulate the collaboration between companies and researchers. For example, a company that has a project requiring R&D might find an existing solution to advance the project or at least, can contact key actors that can help with its development”, adds François Racine, CEO of AluQuébec.

For all those reasons and many more, INALCO 2023 is the aluminium international event not to be missed this year. Whether you are an industrial, an R&D professional, a marketing, sales or HR manager, an aluminium industry leader, a student or an academic, this conference is for you.
